As an Electrical Engineering Discipline Expert, you’ll drive specialty chemical solutions forward by leading medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution design for capital projects at a chemical manufacturing site. You’ll provide technical leadership from early project development through startup, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant electrical systems that support operations and long‑term site performance.
In this role, you will:- Lead electrical design deliverables for capital projects, including one‑lines, equipment specifications, layouts, and grounding/lightning protection.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE/IEC, and corporate engineering standards.
- Improve system reliability and safety through sound design practices and hazard mitigation.
- Prepare bid packages, evaluate vendor proposals, and lead design reviews with EPCs and OEMs.
- Support construction, commissioning, energization, and startup of electrical systems.
- Contribute to project cost and schedule planning, offering value engineering recommendations.
- Participate in PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MOC, and other process safety reviews.
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement of engineering standards.
- Deliver electrical designs safely, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain strong technical quality with minimal rework.
- Ensure reliable, maintainable electrical systems that support plant uptime.
- Facilitate smooth startup, energization, and turnover to operations.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Power emphasis preferred) or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of industrial electrical engineering experience (chemicals, refining, pharma, or similar).
- Strong background in medium‑ and low‑voltage power distribution and equipment specification.
- Experience performing or overseeing power system studies (short‑circuit, coordination, arc flash, etc.).
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification and electrical safety requirements.
- Experience working with EPC partners, OEMs, construction teams, and plant operations.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or pursuit of licensure.
- Experience with SIS/SIL interfaces, grounding/bonding, or static ignition control.
- Familiarity with global electrical standards (IECEx/ATEX).
- Experience with 3D model coordination (e.g., Navisworks, Revit).
- Standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
- Working in a lab or manufacturing setting with appropriate PPE provided.
- Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment.
- Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
- Adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
Work will include time in plant and construction environments requiring PPE and occasional climbing or accessing elevated areas. Some travel and off‑hours support during commissioning or outages may be required.
