Overview

Lubrizol Corporation is seeking an Automotive Mechanical Test Technician. The Mechanical Testing Department supports the development and testing of current and future advanced mobility needs for the lubricant industry and beyond. You will operate a variety of tests in Mechanical Testing, including engines, axles, transmissions, and related equipment, contributing to the development of sustainable solutions for mobility and modern life.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and perform daily work in a safe manner, testing engines, components, and related equipment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and test stands; perform mechanical and maintenance functions on test stands and associated equipment.
  • Communicate testing issues to the appropriate engineer, facilitator, or support group.
  • Stay current on lab utilities that support the test area and maintain housekeeping in test cells and common spaces.
  • Participate in shift rounds and complete required training for technical and interpersonal development.
  • Cross-train in other areas of Mechanical Testing to support future testing needs.
  • Support safety, environmental, ISO, ERT, and career development initiatives; prioritize work to meet business needs.
  • Identify and communicate the need for emergency maintenance coverage; procure test parts and support equipment and ensure proper accounting.
  • Recommend new test support equipment as needed and maintain high ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience through work or education performing automotive and/or mechanical equipment testing (vocational training, hobbies, or military exposure allowed).
  • Mechanical acumen and familiarity with standard engine/driveline nomenclature.
  • Ability to use hand tools and specialized measurement equipment (torque wrenches, micrometers).
  • Good basic math skills and competence in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to document testing data and issues clearly; ability to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to lift 5–50 lbs and assist with moves of drums weighing 50–800 lbs; ability to stand for long periods.
  • Work in an environment that may not be climate controlled and may expose you to outdoor elements.
