An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analytical Chemist to join a rapidly growing technology business operating within the clean energy, water treatment and advanced materials sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative projects supporting emerging technologies within the electric vehicle battery and sustainable resource industries.

This position would suit a hands-on analytical chemist with experience operating ICP instrumentation and a passion for delivering high-quality analytical data in a fast-moving R&D and commercial environment.

The Role

  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot ICP-OES analytical equipment.
  • Prepare samples and carry out elemental analysis across a variety of matrices.
  • Develop, improve and validate analytical methods.
  • Generate calibration standards and perform routine quality checks.
  • Analyse and interpret data before presenting results to internal stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement and development of laboratory procedures.
  • Work closely with engineers, scientists and external partners on innovative technology projects.
  • Assist with wider analytical activities including FTIR, UV-Vis and other laboratory techniques.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Practical experience operating ICP-OES, ICP-MS or similar elemental analysis equipment.
  • Experience of analytical testing, sample preparation and laboratory best practice.
  • Knowledge of instrument calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to quality systems, SOPs, ISO standards or regulated laboratory environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
