Working Hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm
Pay: Up to £21.20 per hour

Are you an experienced HGV Technician/Mechanic with previous supervisory experience looking for a better work-life balance?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Workshop Supervisor to join the busy workshop in Widnes on a permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high standards and supporting the development of other technicians - while enjoying a 4-day working week with no weekends
.

The Role

As an HGV Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the workshop and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and supporting a team of HGV mechanics/technicians
  • Planning and allocating daily workload across the workshop
  • Delegating jobs to technicians based on skills, experience and workload
  • Monitoring job progress and ensuring repairs are completed within agreed timescales
  • Carrying out quality control checks and ensuring work meets company and industry standards
  • Providing technical support and guidance to technicians when required
  • Supporting the training and development of apprentices and less experienced technicians
  • Identifying training and development needs within the team
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures
  • Ensuring workshop housekeeping and safety standards are maintained

    Completing and checking relevant paperwork, job cards and maintenance records
  • Liaising with the workshop management team regarding workload, repairs and any issues
  • Helping to diagnose and resolve more complex mechanical faults
  • Ensuring company procedures and manufacturer guidelines are followed
  • Supporting MOT preparation and compliance where required
  • Managing workshop priorities and reacting effectively to urgent or unexpected repairs

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Previous HGV workshop supervisory or team leader experience
  • A minimum Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of HGV mechanical maintenance and repair
  • The ability to confidently lead, motivate and support a team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A strong focus on quality, safety and getting the job done right
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
  • A proactive approach and a genuine interest in developing others
