Academic Program Responsibilities- Collaborate with department chair and middle school dean on curriculum development
- Create engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking, reading and writing skills
- Employ culturally relevant and student‑centered pedagogical approaches
- Attend monthly department meetings
- Coordinate cross‑curricular writing projects with science and history teachers, and work in conjunction with English 8 teacher
- Write comments each term to reflect student progress
- Assist with department curricular review and skills progression documents
- Collaborate with deans and academic services specialists to support all students
- Serve as advisor to a team of 5–6 students, meeting once per week to check in on their academic, social well‑being and progress
- Offer a middle school club that meets approximately every other week, led by faculty member and aligned with their interests and skills
- Participate in the afternoon program for two out of three seasons
- Faculty who reside on campus: one night a week and one weekend a month of dorm supervision
- Faculty who reside off campus: four weekends a year of student activity supervision
- Bachelor’s degree in English or a relevant field
- 2–3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in middle school settings
- Demonstrated understanding of differentiated teaching and learning approaches
- Track record of collaboration with colleagues
- Athletic coaching experience

Working Conditions / Physical DemandsPhysical demands include dexterity for office machines such as computers, telephones, calculators, copy machines and printers. Common demands include stooping, bending, reaching, walking, and sitting or standing for extended periods.
