Definition

The Education Team Leader (ETL) facilitates special education department responsibilities at their assigned buildings and assists the Director of Student Services and building principals with ensuring compliance of special education programs and services in accordance with district procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.

Supervision

The ETL works under the direct supervision of their respective building principals and the Director of Student Services.

Job Environment

The ETL will work district-wide to facilitate a high level of monitoring and communication with the Director of Student Services team as well as the building administrator(s).

Essential Functions
  • Serve as a building-based point person for special education teachers, related service providers, and caregivers with regards to the provision of special education programming;
  • Coordinate and monitor consistent application of school district special education procedures at their assigned buildings to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and mandated timelines (e.g., evaluation and progress reporting);
  • Facilitate and chair initial, re-evaluation, and annual review meetings at their assigned buildings, as well as any students on a 45-day assessment in another location, and other cases as assigned by the Director of Student Services or their designee;
  • Participate on various school-based teams (e.g., school-based data teams, Tier 2, Whole Child Team, etc.) to improve our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and special education programming at the building level;
  • Facilitate professional development to district staff related to special education procedures and other topics as assigned by the Director of Student Services.
  • Performance Responsibilities
    • In conjunction with clerical staff and special education teachers, coordinate the scheduling of Team meetings including but not limited to maintaining a building and/or grade level meeting calendar, creating and sending invitations, evaluations/teacher reports in advance of meetings, and rescheduling meetings as necessary.
    • Facilitate and chair initial, re-evaluation, and annual review meetings at their assigned buildings, as well as any students on a 45-day assessment in another location, and other cases as assigned by the Director of Student Services or their designee.
    • Author and/or compile portions of said plans as directed by the building principal, Director Student Services, and/or their designee.
    • Review and monitor the development and implementation of all IEPs to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with both state and federal regulations.
    • Complete all necessary reports and paperwork in both a thorough and timely manner.
    • Support special education teachers with case management and consult with general educators regarding students with disabilities included in the general education inclusive setting.
    • Assist in developing and delivering workshops and trainings for staff in order to improve compliance, instruction and programming for students with disabilities.
    • Participate in planning and organizing Extended School Year (ESY) Programming.
    • Plan Transitional Planning meetings and vertical alignment meetings between grade levels and schools.
    • Assist in the collection of school and district statistical and individual student performance data and complete all necessary reports in a timely manner.
    • Work with the Office of Student Services personnel and special education teachers to maintain accurate student information data in Frontline.
    • Attend weekly meetings with the Director of Student Services or their designee.
    • Other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education and Student Services or their designee.

    Salary: $50,645 to $104,231 Per Year

    Job Requirements
    • At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
