Job DescriptionOur District Director of Facilities and Operations oversees the planning, cleaning, maintenance, and operations of all district buildings and grounds. This leadership role ensures learning environments are safe, compliant, and well‑functioning by managing custodial and maintenance teams, capital improvement projects, budgets, and safety regulations.
- Directs daily custodial services, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs for all schools.
- In cooperation with the Asst. Superintendent for Finance, Operations and HR, develops and implements long‑term facility master plans and helps manage major construction or renovation projects.
- Ensures district facilities meet all federal, state, and local health, building, and safety codes.
- Keeps informed of and complies with all state and federal requirements pertaining to maintenance, operations, sanitary, safety, hazardous materials, and energy conservation of the facilities, including supporting documentation.
- In cooperation with the Asst. Superintendent of Finance, Operations and HR, prepares and manages facilities and operations budgets, oversees purchasing, and prepares bid specifications for contracted services.
- In cooperation with the Asst. Director of Facilities and Operations and building Head Custodians, recruits, trains, and evaluates custodial, maintenance, and grounds personnel.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Asst. Superintendent for Finance, Operations and HR.
- Valid CORI is required.
- Suitable fingerprinting results are required before employment can begin.
- 5+ years of relevant facilities or construction management experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Deep understanding of buildings and grounds maintenance and repair practices and procedures including work order systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems, building automation, and energy conservation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid MA driver’s license.
- MCPPO certification preferred.
- At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
