Maintenance Worker - 7070107. State of Missouri.
Location & ShiftDr. Edmund
A. Babler Memorial State Park, 800 Guy Park Dr. Wildwood, MO 63005. Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. with a ½ hour lunch break;
Saturday and Sunday off. May work at least one weekend per month April–October, varying shifts for holidays, emergencies, special events or other parks as needed.
- Semi‑skilled work in facility maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction and repair of buildings and trail system, routine cleaning of structures and grounds with occasional assistance in operation of water/wastewater systems.
- Assist with assigning tasks to and reviewing work of seasonal maintenance staff.
- Direct and perform facility maintenance and upkeep according to facility plans, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, routine preventive maintenance, grounds keeping, buildings and structures maintenance, infrastructure and tree trimming. Perform some on‑site vehicle and equipment repairs.
- Purchase operating supplies, parts and project materials as necessary and follow procurement rules and procedures.
- Communicate openly and effectively with the public, external stakeholders, supervisors and subordinates.
- Assist with stewardship of resources, both natural and cultural. Participate in controlled burns, invasive plant removal and other resource management related projects; maintain vegetation on site including researching, planting, weeding, watering and harvesting; participate in off‑site controlled burns at other parks to meet region or statewide management goals.
- Maintain working knowledge of park rules, regulations, procedures and policies; attend mandatory and other trainings including overnight stays to learn new or enhance existing skills.
- May be required to obtain and maintain water/wastewater certifications and/or other required licenses/certifications. Twelve months to obtain necessary license/certification if not currently possessed.
- Building and Construction knowledge of materials, methods, and tools to construct objects, structures, and buildings.
- Effective learning techniques to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills; use training, feedback, or other opportunities for self‑learning and development.
- Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness when performing work.
- Problem solving: identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
- Accountability: hold self and others accountable for measurable high‑quality, timely, and cost‑effective results; determine objectives, set priorities, delegate work, accept responsibility for own actions and decisions; comply with established control systems and rules.
One to three years of experience in a variety of trade areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair. Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience. Lack of post‑secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
