Responsibilities
  • Provide training and guidance to clerical staff and function as a lead worker for clerical operations.
  • Assist Information & Referral and Crisis Intervention Office with interpretation and translation of documents English/Spanish, including scheduled and emergency interpreting for incoming and outgoing phone calls, home/field visits, and meetings; maintain detailed documentation of interpreting/translation activities.
  • Prepare and submit daily/monthly/annual reports and perform data entry for I&R, Crisis Intervention, and 988; collect information and follow up with staff for missing data.
  • Organize and update Crisis Intervention forms and documents in preparation for licensing.
  • Attend approximately six I&R/Crisis Intervention evening staff meetings per year, take meeting notes, and distribute to staff.
  • Determine supply needs and order supplies for I&R/Crisis Intervention and the high-density file room; assist with tracking I&R budget.
  • Print and maintain stock of forms for I&R, Crisis, and 988.
  • Assist with processing bi-lingual pool requests.
  • Assist Aging/AS with Property and Rent Rebate program.
  • Coordinate equipment service requests and maintenance work orders for DHS waiting area, interview rooms, and high-density file room.
  • Assist with DHS interview room scheduling through county intranet.
  • Serve as back-up to the DHS High Density File Room clerk and may assist with archiving projects.
  • Perform other clerical duties: copying, filing, archiving, distributing mail, faxing, scanning.
  • Participate in formal and informal county, office, department, and state training programs related to human services, applicable laws, procedures, and regulations. Required trainings include Bridging the Gap Interpreter Training, Mandated Reporter, and CSSRS.
  • Enter data and solve problems in KEA, HCSIS, CPR-Web, ACYS, SAMS, and any new information systems that may be developed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, administrator, or designee.
Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • Six months as a Clerk Typist 2 and completion of high school.
  • One year of progressively complex clerical typing experience and completion of high school.
  • Six months of moderately complex clerical typing work and completion of a post‑high school business curriculum.
  • Any equivalent experience and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Other Requirements
  • The selected candidate must be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish. A Spanish speaking proficiency evaluation will be conducted by the Bureau of Talent Acquisition, PA Office of Administration. Candidates must pass this evaluation to be deemed eligible for this position. Proficiency in reading and writing in Spanish must be demonstrated during the probationary period to achieve regular status.

  • Hiring preference may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County. If no eligible candidates who live in Lehigh County apply, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law:
