The DUI Program Aide is responsible for assisting in the administration of Alcohol Highway Safety School Classes (the state mandated education program for DUI offenders) in Luzerne County and for the administration of Court Reporting Network (CRN). The CRN evaluation is a prescreening assessment required of all DUI offenders that must be completed prior to their case being adjudicated. Both AHSS and the CRN evaluations are conducted under the direction of the Luzerne County Probation DUI Program Coordinator.
This position is also responsible to assist the DUI Program Coordinator with all DUI-related activities, assist as a liaison to the Courts, and cooperate closely with Probation Officers to document DUI-related program participation.
The Program Aide will work closely with the Program Manager to coordinate and monitor the Community Service Program and provide monitoring and documentation to Probation Services and the Court of Common Pleas for DUI and non-DUI matters.
Employees in this class will also collect, record, and process all financial data specifically related to AHSS, CRN, and Community Service.
Employees in this class will work closely with the public, Probation Services, and the Courts.
All work performed will be done on a schedule set by the DUI Program Coordinator/Program Manager, with potentially nonconventional hours, that may include evenings and weekends. Salary is based upon a 35 hour work week.
Responsibilities- Assist in scheduling and conduct AHSS classes for the Court of Common Pleas of Luzerne County.
- Assist in scheduling and conduct CRN evaluations for all Luzerne County DUI offenders subject to ARD and/or convicted for DUI.
- Report the outcome of all AHSS classes and CRN evaluations to the DUI Program Coordinator. Documentation is subject to compliance with all rules and regulations of those certified to administer AHSS classes and CRN evaluations.
- Post data on payments received for all AHSS classes, CRN evaluations, and Community Service monies to proper accounting records, adhering to established internal controls.
- Post data on monies owed towards AHSS, CRN evaluations, and Community Service.
- Caseload maintenance/offender management for those under the supervision of Probation Services assigned to DUI programs and community service, within Probation Services records management system.
- Other duties as directed by a superior.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work with detailed information including case planning and fiscal information.
- Ability to organize data and compile reports.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Good verbal communication skills, comfort with interviewing, and comfort with public speaking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, other agencies, institutions, and the public.
- Ability to deal with individuals who may be uncooperative or evasive with answers.
- Ability to maintain a working knowledge of Probation Services records management systems.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree ftom an accredited college or university, and must possess a valid driver's license.
- Employment is conditioned upon successful completion of AHSS Instructor Certification and subsequent recertification every two (2) years.
- Employment is conditions upon CRN Evaluator certification and recertification every two (2) years.
