Operations Manager
Position Summary
A Branch Service Manager is responsible for managing the shop floor and handling minor shop administrative tasks resulting from preventative maintenance and repairs. The manager oversees maintenance supervisors and technicians to ensure the location aligns with business objectives and customer demands. This role is primarily responsible for organizing, planning, coordinating, and implementing the operations technician training program. Candidates should have a minimum of five years of diesel shop maintenance experience and at least two years of supervisory experience, with additional experience in a training setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint is required, along with strong written and oral communication and people‑management skills.
The position will be located at 1050 Swedesford Road in Berwyn, PA.
Major Responsibilities- Manage preventative maintenance scheduling, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Listen to and resolve customer complaints regarding services, products, or personnel
- Hire, train, and evaluate personnel
- Assure that each direct report understands the company objectives
- Confer with company officials to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business
- Direct and supervise associates engaged in sales, inventory-taking, reconciling cash receipts, or performing specific services such as pumping gasoline for customers
- Provide staff assistance in performing difficult or complicated duties
- Plan and prepare work schedules, and assign associates to specific duties
- Attend company meetings to exchange product information and coordinate work activities with other departments
- Prepare sales and inventory reports for management and budget departments
- Formulate pricing policies according to profitability requirements
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor
- At least three years of diesel shop maintenance experience
- At least one year of supervisory experience
- Associate’s Degree (business or technical) or Vocational‑tech Graduate preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint required
- Strong written and oral communication and people‑management skills required
- Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
- Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct use of appropriate tools, PPE, machine guarding, and best safety practices
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, complete Penske employment applications, undergo background investigations (including past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during the workday
- Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or otherwise operate required tools or controls
- Work safely at heights using applicable ladders and elevated work platforms
- Work safely in all weather conditions
- See and hear well to navigate the work environment safely amid frequent movement of large trucks
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg)
