Overview

As a production supervisor you will be responsible for leading team members to manage all daily operations within the mill. You will oversee operations to attain production and quality goals, identify problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolve issues, ensure that production resources—including materials, equipment and human resources—are available as needed to maintain production schedules, and support continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service.

Your Responsibilities
  • Oversee/executed day‑to‑day operations for a major area or sub‑group area, ensuring direct reports follow policies and procedures related to employee safety and food/feed safety.
  • Collaborate with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory (FSQR) experts to implement effective compliance approaches.
  • Enforce a culture of zero injury and illness, proactively avoid environmental impact, and monitor food safety risks to meet HACCP/FDA requirements.
  • Educate and train the workforce in food safety fundamentals; complete safety inspections and housekeeping audits.
  • Document and investigate EHS/Food Safety incident data, recommend mitigation actions, and provide recommendations for quality improvements.
  • Oversee production outcomes, quantity and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are met, and work with Operations to meet specifications and timelines.
  • Monitor quality data issues, compile information, and recommend improvements for review by Plant Manager/Corporate QA Specialists.
  • Identify risks and recommend areas of improvement and innovation, measuring performance impact on customers.
  • Support plant customer relationships by aligning business objectives and understanding operational impact.
  • Implement non‑base capital investments for major areas, providing input for plant capital investment strategies.
  • Prepare and manage the production budget (daily/monthly) for multiple departments/processes or shifts.
  • Ensure accurate execution of purchase orders and timely payment of invoices; use proper procurement practices and forecast volumes.
  • Maintain and order proper packaging consumables inventory.
  • Develop operational plans, monitor day‑to‑day operations for all production processes across multiple departments and shifts.
  • Plan and supervise daily operations to achieve throughput requirements, including workflow, scheduling and shift coverage.
  • Control production capacity, manpower and equipment to minimize losses and optimize profitability.
  • Identify and implement best‑in‑class operational practices, leveraging technical skills to solve problems and recommend efficiencies.
  • Consolidate performance measurements and deploy common practices to promote operational efficiencies.
  • Implement reliability processes, ensuring a foundational reliability culture and eliminating root causes of problems.
  • Partner with local reliability and engineering management to develop and track efficiency standards.
  • Champion a culture of operational excellence, recommending process improvements and supporting business cases for new investments.
  • Encourage total employee involvement and align individual and team activities with business needs.
  • Identify and support opportunities for continuous improvements across the business.
  • Supervise repair, maintenance and installation activities; schedule preventive maintenance; inspect equipment for compliance.
  • Coach the operations team on core values and guiding principles.
  • Plan future workforce needs; participate in employee selection; develop diverse leaders.
