Job Summary

Geisinger is proud to offer an Inpatient Registered Nurse a hiring incentive up to $26,000 for eligible candidates! Minimum hiring rate is $41.41 per hour with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 per shift differential for evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Job Duties
  • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide plan of care as set in unit standards—including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning—with interdisciplinary team members
  • Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure
  • Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plan of care based on patient response
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs
  • Problem‑solve, troubleshoot and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment
  • Participate in unit‑based decision‑making regarding utilization of evidence‑based practice
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward unit and organization goals and is accountable for unit and system‑specific metrics
  • Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety
Position Details

Hours:

7 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; every other weekend and holiday requirements.

  • Receive specialized training in chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant care delivery
  • Participate in clinical orientation in the Henry Cancer Center infusion department, GWV inpatient oncology unit, and Progressive Care Unit
  • Manage and treat patients in an acuity‑adaptable setting from medical‑surgical to advanced level of care
  • Coordinate patient care and collaboration among multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Assess, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet individual patient needs
  • Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve highest level of patient care, safety, and optimal patient/family experience
  • Partner with palliative care team
Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program‑Nursing (required), Bachelor’s Degree‑Nursing (preferred).
