Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician builds, maintains, and repairs production machinery and mechanical systems in a food manufacturing environment. This role focuses on assembling equipment, diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting production operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient machine performance.

Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble machines and mechanical components according to technical requirements and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot reported equipment problems and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on a variety of machines and devices to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Detect malfunctions through careful observation, including sound and visual inspection of machinery and system performance.
  • Run diagnostic tests to verify system functionality and identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Repair broken or faulty machine parts and restore equipment to proper operating condition.
  • Assist production staff with machine changeovers, adjustments, and setups to support efficient line operations.
  • Clean machinery components and apply appropriate lubricants to reduce wear and maintain optimal performance.
  • Perform emergency repairs, including basic structural, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks, to keep operations running safely.
  • Follow all safety rules, procedures, and regulations while performing maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean working environment in and around equipment and work areas.
  • Collaborate with leadership and team members during training and shift transitions to ensure consistent maintenance practices.
Essential Skills
  • Previous experience working as a maintenance mechanic, maintenance technician, or in a similar industrial maintenance role.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and practices for production machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, mechanical and electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to safely operate lift trucks, platform lifts, and articulating boom lifts.
  • Aptitude in using a variety of hand and power tools such as wrenches, pliers, and hand drills, as well as precision measurement tools including calipers.
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and related components.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and food safety regulations (preferred).
  • Ability to stand for long hours, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy loads exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with solid observational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and collaborate with production and leadership staff.

  • Experience in an industrial or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
  • Comfort working with schematics and electrical troubleshooting in production settings.
  • Familiarity with maintenance best practices for hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to adapt to different shifts and schedules, including training on day shift and transitioning to a 12-hour schedule.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory and company standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing equipment issues.
