Makeup Artist

seasonal position

busch gardens williamsburg seeks a seasonal makeup artist for the howl‑o‑scream event.

• apply makeup for howl‑o‑scream terror‑tories and monitor makeup for the maze performers, including specialty makeup and show areas.
• apply makeup to approximately 10‑15 people per shift, in 15‑minute increments.
• maintain a hygienic workspace and follow protocol for washing and caring for brushes, airbrushes, and makeup products.
• maintain approved hos makeup designs.
• perform daily operational duties in support of the costume department, including covering open positions, communicating makeup changes, schedule changes, and other details, and sharing information with co‑workers and management.
• possibly spend additional time in the costume shop learning costume‑related skills.
• ensure maintenance of quality standards for assigned tasks, special events, and show positions.
• maintain park cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards during all assigned tasks.
• other duties as assigned.

• prior makeup application experience required.
• ability to work outdoors in varying weather; this is an outdoor position.
• full availability on friday, saturday, and sunday from september1–november1,2026.
• minimum of one year general experience in a theatrical environment.
• knowledge of stage makeup and ability to apply multiple pre‑designed looks.
• ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods up to five hours, several times per shift.
• position requires lifting, pushing, or pulling a minimum of 50 pounds several times throughout a scheduled shift, including overhead lifting.
• must be able to work in an environment with atmospheric effects (fog, smoke, haze, mist, bubble, snow, scents, etc.).
• experience with wigs, costumes, or sfx makeup application skills is a plus.
• a makeup portfolio is required.
