Overview
Walsingham Academy is seeking to hire a Curriculum Specialist for the school year. The Curriculum Specialist manages various aspects of the curriculum by working to develop, revise, organize, and support teaching and learning at Walsingham Academy. In addition, the Curriculum Specialist works closely with the teaching staff by collaborating to provide observations, feedback, modeling of instruction, and professional growth opportunities for the teaching staff.
Responsibilities- Host regular content-specific meetings with faculty to collaborate and examine curriculum for rigor, alignment, and best practices. Lead the development of short-term and long-term goals for each content department.
- Act as an instructional mentor for teachers new to the Academy or new to the education profession.
- Support teaching and learning of instruction throughout the Walsingham community by partnering with teachers to coach, model, guide, and support instruction.
- Maintain current records of staff licensure and ensure that teachers are staying current with Virginia certification requirements.
- Act as a liaison between The Academy and WJCC for administering of Title II funds.
- Plan and conduct professional development and other learning opportunities for instructional staff.
- Develop, maintain, and improve instructional materials and resources to maximize student learning. (Examples: textbooks, workbooks, graphic organizers, projects, tests, presentations, etc.)
- Organize, plan, and track student data for Continental Math League and Catholic Math League competitions in grades 3-7.
- Assist with tracking and organization of Terra Nova, PSAT, and AP testing data.
- Research, preview, and lead selection of new educational materials such as textbooks and manipulatives.
- Reflect Walsingham Academy’s Mercy Core values to staff, students, and the entire school community.
The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills and believes in the Academy’s ministry. Must hold a valid teaching license. Past experience teaching in a private school setting is preferred. Candidate must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a related field.
