The Assistant Director of Student Unions & Engagement assists with the development, administration, and implementation of engagement opportunities for all users of the Student Unions at William & Mary with primary focus on programming.

Responsibilities
  • Advise the Alma Mater Productions (AMP) Programming Board to support a robust educational, socio-cultural, and recreational programming calendar of over 90 events per academic year.
  • Manage several budget and budgeting processes including contract and vendor relationship negotiations for a budget in excess of $500,000 annually.
  • Coordinate campus-wide events on behalf of AMP, Student Unions and Engagement, and/or university initiatives.
  • Supervise the two Graduate Students and the Union Central games room operations including student staff.
  • Provide oversight and management of marketing and social media for the department.
  • Actively collaborate with other campus departments in support of programming initiatives for the college community.
  • Other duties as assigned that forward the mission of Student Unions and Engagement.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in college student development and/or event management.
  • Experience with oversight of student organization activities, programming, and events.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the proven ability to work collaboratively as a team player as well as develop and foster communication and teamwork with a diverse audience including students, staff, alumni, and the University community.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions or recommendations.
  • Established organization skills with the proven ability to think creatively, balance competing priorities, and navigate complex situations within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
