Salary: $61,823.70 Per Year

Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing the intervention, remediation, and tutorial activities at the school site; serving as the School Test Coordinator (STC); analyzing assessment data as it relates to the school, to individual student achievement, and to the improvement of instruction; facilitating online credit recovery for students and serving as a member of the school’s Continuous Improvement Leadership Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

School Assessment Coordinator

  • Serve as the School Test Coordinator for all state assessment programs.
  • Coordinate and implement building-level testing procedures and protocols for national and state testing, and for local testing as applicable. Conduct procedural training for all school test examiners and proctors.
  • Count, distribute, collect and package testing materials.
  • Report test irregularities as necessary and in accordance with VDOE testing guidelines.
  • Maintain security of testing materials while in the building.
  • Maintain records of students using substitute tests for SOL verified credits.
  • Prepare all necessary orders for testing materials.
  • Oversee the distribution of test results.
  • Ensure necessary adjustments coded for SOL’s (LEP, SpEd, Transfer, etc).
  • Ensure accommodations are met for ELL, SpEd, and 504 students.
  • Track student SOL failures and test retakes for the SOL assessments and alternate assessments.

Data Analyst

  • Assist with data collection, data analysis and data record keeping associated with the School Improvement Plan.
  • Lead VDOE/Graduation Cohort cleanup and utilize SSWS Data Correction Tool.
  • Assist with analyzing assessment data as it relates to the school, to individual student achievement and to the improvement of instruction.
  • Review assessment data with teachers and departments.

Coordination of Remediation

  • Plan and coordinate school intervention, remediation, and tutorial programs/classes.
  • Identify students eligible for services, identify appropriate remediation services, communicate with parents, obtain tutors and schedule tutoring activities.
  • Track attendance, maintain all necessary and appropriate records and secure substitutes for absent tutors.
  • Review and track quarterly attendance and academic progress of students being served to determine progress and the need for adjustments.

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct parent, teacher, and student information sessions concerning testing, remediation, tutorial programs/classes and credit recovery options.
  • Attend training sessions and site meetings related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties related to assigned responsibilities and essential functions as approved by the Director of Accountability and Special Programs or other duties as assigned by the principal.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree. Enrolled in Master’s degree program for School Administration. Master’s degree and certification for School Administration/Supervision preferred. Three years of successful experiences with classroom instruction, testing, tutoring, and/or remediation services. Eligible for or possession of a five-year-renewable, Virginia Teaching License. Strong knowledge of instructional classroom strategies, student academic assessment, remediation activities/strategies, and data use, analysis, interpretation and display; strong communication, organizational, and writing skills;

ability to motivate, encourage, challenge students; demonstrate initiative and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; leadership qualities to provide professional development; knowledge of the school improvement process; knowledge of the Virginia Assessment System and its programs, protocols, and procedures; technological proficiency with Windows, Word, and experience using spreadsheets and database systems; and familiarity with the Virginia Standards for Accrediting Schools.

Performs duties under the supervision of the principal. Job responsibilities are defined by the Director of Accountability and Special Programs.

Physical Requirements

Moving, packing, unpacking boxes of testing materials (30-50 pounds). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
