Description
The intern will be engaged in a professional setting and encouraged to apply classroom learning to practical situations. The intern will work 20-40 hours per week for at least six weeks. Students may request fewer hours; such requests are considered case-by-case and may result in a volunteer status.
Goals- To engage the intern in a professional setting and provide him or her with the chance to apply the theoretical learning of the classroom to practical situations, activities and challenges.
- To create an experience affording the student the opportunity to explore his/her educational and career interests while pursuing useful work for his or her host department.
- To facilitate the requirements for students and professionals seeking academic credit, fulfilling college or university requirements and educational enrichment.
- Interns will keep a portfolio of impressions and experiences, such as journals, visual materials and completed projects.
- Interns may participate in weekly seminars with staff, field trips to museums and cultural institutions, research and implement a project as designated by their host department, and assist in day-to-day operations.
- Internships are not paid.
A prospective intern must have successfully completed their 1st and 2nd years of study in an accredited college or university. They must be enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of study or in an advanced degree program. Interns must secure their own housing, transportation, and living expenses.
