Job Summary
The Office of Undergraduate Admission seeks to recruit academically and personally distinguished students to contribute to the diversity of the university’s undergraduate population. The incumbent will participate in all aspects of the university admission cycle and will contribute to equity and access in education, focusing on diversity and access recruitment initiatives.
Responsibilities- Represent the university in a variety of settings, evaluating applications and participating in admission committee processes.
- Manage a geographic territory for prospect cultivation and application review.
- Conduct group information sessions for prospective students and families.
- Organize recruitment and yield events aimed at increasing diversity on campus.
- Engage in electronic, online, and print communication efforts, supervise student volunteers, and participate in other admission endeavors.
- Act as a key member of the diversity and access team, participating in event programming, communication campaigns and coordinating student volunteers.
- Assist the marketing and communications team with prospective student and parent email campaigns, social media, office print publications, and the admission blog site.
- Lead or support on‑campus programming by directing recruitment events and student volunteer groups.
- Read and evaluate applications for admission, primarily responsible for one or more geographic regions.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (or comparable experience) to be conferred by start date.
- General knowledge of college and university programs, majors, admission requirements and processes.
- Proficiency with computer skills including Internet browsers, social media platforms, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and navigate multiple projects with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to accurately disseminate information to a diverse population.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member with high interpersonal skills.
- Prior admission or related professional experience (typically two or more years) for assistant dean level.
- Experience in a selective liberal arts and sciences college/university setting.
- Experience supervising student volunteers, leading student organizations, or event programming.
- Experience working in an admission or college‑counseling office, including as a student or volunteer.
- Fluency in a foreign language and/or experience abroad.
- Requires individual driving and group travel, including evenings and travel in heavy traffic.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Occasional overnight travel required.
- Periodic evening and weekend work required.
Admission Counselor: $46,000 - $49,000;
Assistant Dean: $50,000 - $57,000.
