Summary:

** Reporting to the Director of the Graduate Center, the Assistant Director will provide program management and operational oversight for the Center to include planning and facilitating professional development programs, workshops, and events; collecting and interpreting program impact data; and assisting with graduate student academic success programs. This new position aligns with the Center’s recent shift to the Office of the Provost and expansion allowing support for research graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across academic units.

Responsibilities Include:

• Working collaboratively as a thought partner with the Center’s Director on strategic vision, implementation planning, and program priorities to expand the Center’s reach and impact.  
• Leading the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the Center’s workshop series and related academic success programs.  
• Designing, managing, and evaluating programs and resources that support graduate students and postdoctoral scholars across campus.  
• Facilitating writing retreats, bootcamp-style programs, and other structured academic support initiatives that advance doctoral research and degree progress.  
• Building and sustaining collaborative relationships with faculty, campus partners, and strategic collaborators to develop and deliver programs that advance the mission of the Center.  
• Using assessment data and participant feedback to evaluate program effectiveness, identify emerging needs, and recommend improvements to Center services and priorities.  
• Providing day-to-day operational leadership for student-facing Graduate Center activities, communications, and program logistics.  
• Providing functional supervision, training, workflow direction, and performance feedback for two or more graduate assistants.

* Required Qualifications:

*** Master’s degree in a humanities, STEM, social sciences, or related field.
* Experience in higher education, such as university teaching, student or academic affairs, writing center administration, graduate education, academic success programming, or related field (typically 2+ years).
* Demonstrated success developing, delivering, or supporting programs for graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, or advanced learners in a higher education setting.
* Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, manage complex priorities, and lead programs from planning through implementation and assessment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
* Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to foster cooperative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and institutional stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a complex academic environment.
