The office supports the instructional objectives of the faculty and advances William and Mary’s educational and retention through a coordinated approach to student academic success and wellbeing.
Position Summary    The Assistant Director for Academic Resilience is responsible for overseeing Academic Wellbeing’s student success intervention programs designed to support undergraduate students experiencing academic challenges. This position leads the office’s Empowerment Programs, including initiatives for students on academic warning, academic probation, and continued probation. The Assistant Director provides individualized support, academic guidance, and resource referrals that promote student persistence and academic success.
The Assistant Director for Academic Resilience collaborates with faculty, academic advisors, and campus partners to coordinate comprehensive support for students while serving as a central point of contact for academic intervention efforts. This position oversees the Answers-on-the-Go (AOTG) outreach initiative, increasing awareness of Academic Wellbeing services and proactively connecting students with campus resources. The Assistant Director for Academic Resilience supervises a Graduate Student Assistant and student employees, utilizes assessment data to improve programs and student outcomes, and contributes to the overall mission of Student Success by fostering student belonging, resilience, and persistence.

*** Master's degree in higher education, counseling, social work, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
* Experience with and understanding student development theories.
* Experience advocating for college students.
* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with diverse partners, characterized by cooperation, attention to detail, flexibility, and personal responsibility.

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** Experience developing, coordinating, or managing academic intervention, student success, or retention programs.
* Experience working with students who are experiencing academic difficulty.
* Experience collaborating with faculty, academic advising, and campus partners.
* Experience supervising graduate assistants and/or student employees.
