Safety and Occupational Health Specialist- PA-08-3105 Williamsburg, VA

Position Summary

RBCI seeks a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist to support the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) by ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health standards within a warehouse environment. This work is onsite at the Williamsburg, VA office, and 5%-10% travel may be required.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and occupational health requirements across warehouse, production, maintenance, and logistics operations.
  • Implement, manage, and enforce safety and occupational health programs in accordance with DoD, Department of the Navy (DON), OSHA, and NMRLC policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHA) and workplace evaluations to identify potential safety, health, and environmental hazards in production activities, equipment operations, and warehouse functions.
  • Investigate mishaps, accidents, and near‑miss incidents by analyzing events, conducting interviews, reviewing environmental factors, and evaluating contractor training records to identify causal and contributing factors.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement corrective actions and preventative measures to reduce risk of injury, illness, or property damage.
  • Apply knowledge of hazardous material and waste management, handling, storage, and disposal regulations.
  • Adapt and apply safety and environmental practices where guidance is limited or unavailable, using professional judgment and risk management principles.
  • Develop, update, and implement safety procedures, instructions, and controls, including innovative safety solutions for warehouse and production operations.
  • Provide safety and occupational health training to contractor personnel, ensuring understanding of safety concepts, hazard awareness, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct inspections and surveys of work areas to assess compliance with safety, fire protection, and environmental standards, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Maintain documentation and records related to safety training, inspections, hazard reports, mishap investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate with management, government representatives, and operational leads on safety matters and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required to support safety inspections and training activities within warehouse environments.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management to support safety, environmental, and occupational health objectives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of environmental concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Familiarity with chemical, biological, and ecological concepts and the skill to adapt practices where guidance is not established.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste management and disposal regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of job hazard analysis and other analytical techniques sufficient to conduct mishap investigations and identify causal factors.
  • Skill in devising innovative safety procedures to minimize injury or property damage.
  • Knowledge of safety training concepts and the ability to train contractor personnel.
  • A valid driver’s license for stand‑up and 4‑6K forklifts. OSHA Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
