Position Summary

RBCI is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Lead Technician to provide the Navy Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) with a broad range of supply chain and logistics functions in a warehouse environment. This work is onsite at the Williamsburg, VA office.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee the installation, preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, and validation of complex biomedical and diagnostic medical devices to ensure clinical functionality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for biomedical maintenance and service operations involving complicated and advanced technical requirements.
  • Perform advanced, in‑depth troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of medical equipment, including identifying root causes of equipment failures, system deficiencies, or facility‑related issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Apply in‑depth knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, design characteristics, operational principles, and functional use of a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical, and biomedical equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of electronic circuitry, including electronic tubes and transistors, X‑ray tube operations, and the interrelationship between electrical and electronic circuitry and associated chemical, radiation, hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum, and medical gas systems.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of the principles and theories governing the maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical equipment such as sterilizers, suction systems, dental units, imaging systems, and other complex clinical devices.
  • Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of hydraulic systems, including grips, locks, stop and release mechanisms, and the ability to determine proper adjustment, identify leaks, and ensure proper system performance.
  • Utilize advanced electronic, electrical, and mechanical test and measurement equipment, including multimeters, ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, pressure gauges, micrometers, and calipers to diagnose malfunctions, verify performance, and detect wear or mechanical misalignment.
  • Interpret and apply technical manuals, specifications, regulations, policy statements, and other governing guidance to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of state‑of‑the‑art medical technology, including scientific and technological advances, network protocols, and vendor updates impacting biomedical equipment support.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior technicians, oversee daily workflow, assign tasks, review work quality, and support training and professional development.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management in support of mission and operational objectives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successfully completed a Department of Defense (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) program, or possess an associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology or Electronics Technology.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, including at least two (2) years of experience serving as a lead technician or in a direct supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage workflow, mentor junior technicians, and oversee technical operations in a biomedical maintenance environment.
  • Extensive experience performing advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration of a wide range of medical and diagnostic equipment.
  • In‑depth knowledge of biomedical service operations involving complex technical systems and the ability to independently diagnose and resolve difficult equipment, system, and facility‑related issues.
