Job Duties- Wage position - Only Paid for Hours Worked
Provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at ESH by handling difficult individuals, physically controlling, confining, and restraining them during difficult situations. Maintain adequate coverage so the Public Safety Department can fulfill its mission at Eastern State Hospital. Each officer is sworn by the Court of Williamsburg/James City County and is fully empowered to make an arrest for any State and Local violation.
This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience in preparing reports and investigation techniques.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Experience in conducting foot and/or vehicle patrol.
- Experience in Law Enforcement, Security, or related fields and positions meeting and dealing with the general public as a supplier for security services.
- Certification as a Special Conservator of the Peace.
- Experience utilizing various computer software.
