Job Overview
Administrative and supervisory duties for the Juvenile Services Project Insight Program.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and implement community service hours and law‑related educational programs.
- Interview youth and families, explaining program rules and the contract process.
- Arrange community service work opportunities at work sites and assign educational sessions.
- Monitor youth compliance with schedules, rules, guidelines, and judicial mandates.
- Collect and account for user fees from parents, guardians, and participants.
- Assist in recruiting additional work sites and overseeing Project Specialists assigned to GAP.
- Ensure all reporting requirements comply with the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).
- Maintain collaborative relationships with multiple agencies.
- Prepare and maintain statistical records, schedule videos, and administer pre‑ and post‑tests.
- Process confirmation and termination letters.
- Mediates disputes and resolves conflicts between youth, parents, and work sites.
- Develop, organize, and implement new programs and courses, including related forms.
- Initiate purchases, monitor expenditures, and prepare statistical analyses and special reports.
- Assist with updates to the Project Insight Program Manual.
- Ensure compliance with DJJ mandates for contractual agreements and background forms.
- Present to community, civic, and religious groups and appear in court to give testimony.
- Collaborate with Court Services Unit Probation Officers to discuss problems and special circumstances.
- Attend division and department staff meetings.
- High school diploma supplemented by college‑level coursework and 3‑5 years of human services experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Knowledge of counseling procedures and techniques for socially and emotionally maladjusted children.
- Experience with interviewing techniques and child and adolescent psychology.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in meeting non‑routine problems.
- Strong planning and execution skills to carry out work effectively.
- Physical ability to operate machinery and equipment, including a calculator and automobile; work is largely sedentary.
- The earliest start date for this position is July 13, 2026.
