TPMG is actively seeking an Echocardiograph Technician to work out of our Cardiovascular Diagnostics Center in Williamsburg. TPMG is comprised of over 200 physicians and advanced practice clinicians and is the largest physician-owned group on the Peninsula. The schedule is full time, Monday-Friday.

Position Summary

The Echocardiograph Technician I is responsible for conducting echocardiograms, stress testing (with and without echo), contrast studies and saline bubble studies on patients to determine heart disease.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare paperwork prior to patient’s visit.
  • Review patient files for cardiac history and indication for testing, medications prescribed and cardiac history.
  • Works with the physician to ensure patient testing occurs for all studies in a timely and organized fashion.
  • Prepare patients for stress echo, stress testing or transthoracic 2D echo study.
  • Conducts testing according to standard echocardiography and stress echocardiography protocol and procedures.
  • Prepares preliminary report for interpreting physician review.
  • Records patient information into Next Gen.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and maintain records for preventative upkeep.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
Education / Training / Requirements
  • Associates Degree or equivalent.
  • BLS or ACLS certification required.
  • Sonography Registry credentials must be current.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to climb or balance for limited periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs. *
  • Ability to grasp and hold up to 25 lbs.*
  • Ability to hear normal voice level communications in person or through the telephone.
  • Ability to speak clearly and understandably.
  • Ability to taste and smell.
