Hiring Range: $16.80 - $21.83/hour. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. Please pay close attention to the requirements for this role.
OverviewWorks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in the personal care of patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions). Performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including simple wound care (cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. Emergency Department personnel provide education and validate that team members meet required competency to perform skills specific to the job description.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in the assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
you will do
- Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
- Follow the plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under RN direction.
- Perform vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, draw blood, specimen collection, and other procedures as required.
- Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment, stocking supplies, and placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.

REQUIRED:
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), VA Department of Health Professions EMT-B (Basic) License, Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program (proof required), Current enrollment in an LPN/RN nursing program with 80 clinical hours completed. - 1 year prior health care experience in a hospital setting (Preferred).
- Certified in CPR/BLS (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute).
- Other required licensure/certifications as indicated in the job posting.
