The Patient Access Representative is responsible for managing all aspects of patient registration, including verifying identity, reviewing schedules, and registering patients for services. They scan and verify important documents such as insurance cards and IDs, enter demographic and insurance data into electronic health records, and ensure compliance with privacy and regulatory standards. The role involves explaining and collecting co‑payments, deposits, and balances securely, greeting patients and families, answering questions, and coordinating patient flow to appropriate service areas.
Additional duties may include scheduling, pre‑admission, discharge, and providing updates to families.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience. Candidates need a minimum of 2 years in customer service or data entry, with preferred skills in computer proficiency, medical terminology, and knowledge of third‑party payers and coding.
