Compensation: $20.17 per hour.
Company OverviewFounded in 1926, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is a private, not‑for‑profit educational, historic, and cultural institution that oversees one of the world’s largest museum complexes. Its mission is to let the future learn from the past through the preservation and restoration of 18th‑century Williamsburg, Virginia. The historic area covers 301 acres and includes 88 original colonial buildings plus 525 reconstructed structures.
The Foundation also operates two world‑class museums and a research library, as well as five high‑end accommodations and on‑site restaurants and taverns.
Upon being hired, you will begin in a probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week. After completing the probationary period, you may become eligible for benefits.
Essential DutiesThe Front Desk Attendant will assist guests efficiently, courteously, and professionally in all front office related functions, including registration, cashiering, and information management.
- Maintains a high standard of service and hospitality at all times.
- Trains new employees.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Must be available to work all shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Some front desk or guest relations experience preferred.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Full‑time position.
- Ability to handle cash handling duties.
- Flexibility to include availability on short notice.
- Excellent public contact and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to:
- Handle guest complaints with professionalism and tact.
- Work effectively under pressure.
- Stand for extended periods.
- Respond quickly and professionally to situations.
- Manage paperwork efficiently.
- Maintain an upbeat attitude and positive, enthusiastic mindset.
- Greet guests, employees, managers, and supervisors with a warm smile and friendly demeanor.
- Always treat everyone with respect and work cooperatively with all colleagues and management.
- Report to work as scheduled and on time.
- Adhere to established uniform and appearance policies.
- Perform assigned tasks accurately and on time.
