Overview

Job Description The Director HR guides, manages, and implements the overall requirements of Human Resources policies and programs. Supervises and coordinates the operations of Payroll and Human Resources to comply with Federal and State regulations.

Full time schedule

Education, Experience, Certification And Licensure Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Human Resources or related field required.
  • 4+ years of Director-level HR experience required.
  • 8+ years of HR experience preferred.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
Job Duties
  • Ensures the effective and efficient operation of Human Resources and the completion of Payroll through policies, practices, record keeping and files according to established procedures.
  • Research personnel issues having potential legal or compliance consequences and consults with the Executive Director.
  • Provides necessary technical assistance and advise about Human Resource principles, practices, and procedures to applicants, team members, supervisors, and directors as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality and required documentation pertaining to team members and processes it in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines, etc.
  • Coordinates and processes team member benefits and paperwork such as I-9, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, Workers Compensation, health insurance, dental insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, and retirement plan; processing the necessary forms within designated time limits.
  • Ensures general orientation and required employment paperwork are completed for all new team members. Reviews all completed employment and orientation paperwork by directors for new team members and advises in any necessary changes.
  • Offers guidance and support to team members regarding FMLA, ADA, workers compensation, community policies and procedures and answers any questions when needed. Follows up with team members as needed while on leave.
  • Responsible for handling all EEOC claims, workers compensation hearings, OSHA records, and Department of Labor Survey and VEC claims that occur.
  • Serves as a liaison between team members and/ or team members and their supervisors in resolving work related conflicts.
  • Oversees Relias software to assure in-services are assigned and update the system as team member status changes.
  • Advises directors on appropriate team member counseling and completion of action reports. Completes exit interviews on team members leaving the community.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements to policies and procedures related to human resources, payroll, and benefits functions.
  • Facilitates implementation of new systems and technologies related to payroll and Human Resources including software updates, system configurations and conversion processes.
  • Attends safety committee and reviews completed supervisor investigation reports on all worker’s compensation injuries.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Subject matter expert in HR that can lead strategy and facilitate change in practices and approach.
  • Experience in managing employee relations, benefits, payroll, and talent practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high regard for confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze trends, causes, and outcomes of personnel related issues and manage the communication and direction throughout the process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with visitors, residents, and family members as well as community team members.
  • Ability to communicate to various audiences in written and verbal form using the English language.
SUPERVISION and Decision Making EXERCISED
  • May supervise Assistant, Coordinator, or Manager.
  • Decision-making is typically very difficult. Most alternatives that are considered are not covered by standard operating procedures and have comparable value.
