Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance (O&M) of the Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). Scope of Services.
- Telephones in residences, temporary quarters, and select office buildings
- Cameras deployed at various site locations
- Network services at Public Works pump stations
- A/V department video streams to all office buildings
- Internet connectivity
- Network services for shoreline radar detection
GPON O&M Support includes:
- Ensure telephone services (including 911 services), Internet, and the security camera network remain operational
- Troubleshoot and install necessary software patches and updates
- Submit Incident reports (CDRL 004)
- Log in to Panorama to identify any error messages that impact operational stability
- Regularly check operational status of single-boards and document any abnormal states
- Perform necessary maintenance on the system per alarms to prevent failures to cards/boards
- Verify the uplink interface of the GPON system and status of the PON port
- Splitter maintenance: test and record redundant ports, marking problematic ones
- Troubleshoot and replace defective ONTs (Optical Network Terminals)
- Provision network changes using Panorama and update the system Oracle password quarterly
- Update Oracle passwords regularly
- Initiate Tellabs TAC support requests
- Provide RMA support for defective Tellabs equipment
- Provide on-call support response and restoral support after hours, weekends, and holidays for outages or requests
- Prior experience installing network cabling and IT equipment
- Tellabs GPON Operations, Provisioning and Maintenance certification
- Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds
- Attention to detail and alertness at all times
- Consistent regular attendance and punctual daily arrival
- TS/SCI with Full Spectrum Poly clearance
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of progressive and relevant experience
- Tellabs Training certification
- Advanced knowledge of the customer and inner workings of the organization
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint)
- Ability to lift or support televisions/projectors with a team up to 250 pounds
- Knowledge of video grid pulls and terminations of RCA, RG6 & BNCs
- Experience setting up and building video racks with proper cable management
- Experience troubleshooting AV equipment, speakers, microphones, cameras, racks, terminations, codecs, and Polycom devices
- Prior experience installing, troubleshooting, or uninstalling Custom VTC or DVTC packages
$110,000 - $115,000
