This position directly manages field staff and crews, oversees daily production schedules, coordinates equipment and materials, and ensures crews have the resources and direction needed to be successful each day. The Production Manager is responsible for maintaining efficient operations from morning dispatch through the end-of-day return and ensuring crews are fully prepared for the following day's work.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and people leader with excellent organizational and customer service skills. A system-based, process-oriented approach to planning, scheduling, and problem-solving is essential for success in this role.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Scheduling
- Manage crew schedules in Aspire
, optimizing job locations, equipment allocation, crew skills, contract scope, production timing, and service man-hours. - Manage all maintenance services and enhancements, including coordination of materials, crews, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Ensure every crew has a clear production plan before beginning each service or work ticket, including:
- Scope of work
- Proper sequence of tasks
- Appropriate staffing levels
- Required personnel qualifications, training, and certifications
- Equipment and materials
- Man-hour targets
- Inspect properties and job sites prior to scheduled work to develop appropriate action plans and make schedule adjustments as needed.
- Ensure crews are working productively and consistently toward established production goals.
- Ensure no crew is dispatched without clearly defined service hours, scope of work, required materials, and proper equipment.
- Manage morning dispatch and afternoon crew returns.
- Ensure all crews are properly prepared for the following day's work.
- Directly manage 4-8 crews
, with Crew Leaders reporting directly to the Production Manager. - Provide hands-on training and support related to equipment operation, landscape techniques, safety, and quality standards.
- Lead weekly team meetings and daily morning huddles to promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Conduct bi-weekly PAR meetings with Crew Leaders.
- Communicate with, counsel, train, discipline, evaluate, and develop field staff and Crew Leaders.
- Identify opportunities to improve the performance of lower-performing Crew Leaders and crews.
- Build crew capabilities through training, education, coaching, correction, and follow-up.
- Work with the Department Manager to identify staffing needs.
- Ensure all required paperwork is completed for employee changes and new hires.
- Ensure job sites meet company quality, appearance, and production standards.
- Understand and respond to client needs through regular communication with the Department Manager.
- Ensure all production work meets contract scope, company standards, and client expectations.
- Support the resolution of production and client-related issues as needed.
- Manage stock inventory and short-term procurement of materials and supplies.
- Coordinate proper materials and equipment for upcoming work.
- Enforce company policies and procedures regarding the proper upkeep, storage, use, and maintenance of trucks and equipment.
- Ensure employees receive appropriate training on equipment operation and safety.
- Sell small work tickets, change orders, and enhancements.
- Assist with developing production cost estimates for new opportunities as appropriate.
