Overview
Position Title: Registered Nurse, 3 South – Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit
Location: Williamsburg, VA
Shift: First (Days), 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM with rotating weekend schedule
Type: Full Time, Day Shift
Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates
The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit (3 South) at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides specialized care for patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post‑coronary interventions, post‑ablation care, myocardial infarctions, and acute stroke. The unit also manages pre‑ and post‑catheterization patients.
Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Program- No separate application required; automatic enrollment for any RN with less than 12 months experience or transitioning to a new practice area.

The RN is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—teaching and health promotion—and evaluation. The RN must also uphold standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, nursing research, quality improvement, resource utilization, environmental health, and patient safety.
Education- Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
- BSN or MSN preferred
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
- NIH within 1 year of hire
- Acute care nursing experience preferred
- Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
- None Required
