Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)
Riverside is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Gastroenterology team at Riverside Gastroenterology Specialists in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative outpatient setting alongside experienced, board-certified gastroenterologists while providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Position Highlights- Outpatient clinic-based role
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- No weekends or hospital call requirements
- Collaborative team environment with experienced gastroenterologists
- Established patient population
- Supportive clinical and administrative resources
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory testing.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists.
- Assist in the preoperative and postoperative care of patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures.
- Provide patient education regarding disease prevention, treatment options, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable protocols and scope-of-practice guidelines.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation and patient records.
- Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Qualified candidates must possess one of the following:
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Current Virginia license or eligibility for Virginia licensure.
- Current DEA controlled substance registration.
- Meets professional, ethical, and clinical practice standards.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Collaborative approach to working with physicians and healthcare team members.
- Ability to mentor and provide guidance to clinical staff as appropriate.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient experiences.
- Experience diagnosing and treating common medical conditions.
- Working knowledge of managed care and Medicare populations.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent clinical decisions.
- Professional demeanor, appearance, and communication style.
