Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant)

Riverside is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing Gastroenterology team at Riverside Gastroenterology Specialists in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative outpatient setting alongside experienced, board-certified gastroenterologists while providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Highlights
  • Outpatient clinic-based role
  • Monday through Friday schedule
  • Clinic hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • No weekends or hospital call requirements
  • Collaborative team environment with experienced gastroenterologists

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies and laboratory testing.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising gastroenterologists.
  • Assist in the preoperative and postoperative care of patients undergoing gastrointestinal procedures.
  • Provide patient education regarding disease prevention, treatment options, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with applicable protocols and scope-of-practice guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Education

Qualified candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Required Qualifications
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Virginia license or eligibility for Virginia licensure.
  • Current DEA controlled substance registration.
  • Meets professional, ethical, and clinical practice standards.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience diagnosing and treating common medical conditions.
  • Working knowledge of managed care and Medicare populations.
