Line Cook
Responsibilities Include:
- Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
- Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
- Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
- Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range.
- Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene regulations per Virginia Department of Health, James City County, and other agencies.
- Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves.
- Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products.
- Perform additional tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort.
- Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills.
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions.
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be organized and self-motivated.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Sets up food items and other necessary supplies.
- Label and stock ingredients on shelves to be organized and accessible.
- Ensures that the daily prep tasks are completed prior to service.
- Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry, or fish.
- Maintain a clean workstation area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves.
- Perform additional tasks as may be assigned.
