Position: Full-Time Sales Associate — Help with Home Projects

FT 40 hours a week. Must be able to work all shifts Mon‑Sat 7:30‑8:00. Must be able to stand for 8 hours, lift 50 lbs, and climb stairs. Knowledge of Stihl, Toro, and Briggs & Stratton a plus. Potential for advancement.

We are seeking outgoing, friendly, and helpful team members to welcome and assist customers. Previous hardware experience is a plus but not a requirement, as we provide extensive training.

Assembler

Responsible for the assembly of grills, wheel barrows, and furniture.

Must be forklift certified.

Must be able to work any day of the week.

Typical hours: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Sales Associate

Responsible for providing legendary customer service and offering solutions to customers’ needs. Every job within Ace Peninsula Hardware ultimately impacts the customer directly or indirectly. Customers are the only reason we are here and without them, we would not be here.

Customer Service Responsibilities
  • Greet each customer with a smile.
  • Understand the customer’s needs by asking, “What project are you working on today?”
  • Recommend the right product and any complementary items.
  • Exceed customer expectations by walking them to products and suggesting additional items.
  • Build the relationship by using the customer’s name.
  • Thank the customer for shopping at Ace Peninsula Hardware.
Operational Procedures
  • Participate in all store training programs.
  • Learn to sell the whole project; develop product knowledge for add‑on sales.
  • Execute in‑store services: mixing paint, cutting glass, cutting keys and shades, re‑keying locks, testing pool and hot‑tub water.
  • Stock all warehouse, drop‑ship, and back‑stock inventory.
  • Special‑order products for customers as needed.
  • Watch for shoplifting activity and follow store procedures when suspected.
  • Watch for safety issues.
  • Clean and condition shelves and merchandise end caps.
  • Participate in WOW and Customer Engagement.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program.
Cashier

Cashiers exemplify the foundation of our service to each customer as they enter and leave the store. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Make sure customer service is priority one at all times.
  • Welcome each customer that comes into the store.
  • Ask if they found what they were looking for; if not, suggest special ordering.
  • Thank each customer.
  • Give 100% of your attention to the customer.
  • Count the cash back from each transaction.
  • Call for backup cashier when a line begins to form.
  • Guard against point‑of‑sale scams.
  • Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently.
  • Keep the checkout area neat and clean.
  • Handle merchandise returns and exchanges quickly.
  • Call customers when their rain checks and special orders are in stock.
  • Count the cash drawer before each shift.
  • Close the cash drawer after each transaction.
  • Maintain minimum cash in the register; if large bills or excess cash, call for a pickup.
  • Promote the Ace Rewards program.
What to expect
  • You’ll work directly with customers, welcoming them and helping them find everything needed for their project in one trip.
  • You will work in a fast‑paced and fun environment.
  • You’ll be on your feet for most of your shift (6‑8 hours).
  • You must lift 40‑50 lbs.
