Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited life plan community, seeks a Part-Time Plus Security Officer to respond to resident needs and emergencies, monitor and respond to alarms, maintain traffic control, and investigate accidents, injuries and disturbances, as required.
This Officer will have hours scheduled 11pm-7:30am. Part Time Plus is 30-35 hours/week.
JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer, under the direction and supervision of the Security Manager, is responsible for controlling access to the property, reporting recognized security discrepancies, and issuing passes to those having authorized business with Williamsburg Landing. The Officer monitors and responds to alarms, maintains traffic control, investigates accidents, injuries and disturbances, and responds to resident needs and emergencies as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates and participates in emergency situations, providing detailed documentation of activities during the shift and writes articulate incidents reports when applicable
- Reports unsafe conditions discovered to the Security Manager and/or Sergeant to facilitate quick corrective action
- Responds to drills, disasters, fire alarms, or other emergency incidents and provides necessary support and controls
- Maintains a secure and reliable key/access control system in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures
- Monitors and controls access to Williamsburg Landing property; assists visitors with a legitimate need to gain entry to property; screens visitors, contractors, vendors, suppliers, guests, and employees in an efficient manner to expedite admittance to property
- Patrols property and site buildings checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress and egress, mechanical problems and unauthorized persons; inspects buildings and grounds on a defined schedule; periodically patrols property
- Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to management and/or public safety authorities as appropriate for the circumstances
- Prepares logs, reports, and other documents as assigned
- Responds to general calls for service such as accessing locked buildings and providing escorts
- Assists others (residents, employees, contractors, visitors) during emergencies that may include providing emergency First Aid, CPR, AED, and manually lifting or transporting those in a compromised state
- Assists in educating new and current employees on policies and procedures
- Tests and operates sites fire alarm system;
Maintains first aid kits and supplies - Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities through manual and electronic methods
- Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as required
- Assists in managing parking, traffic controls, and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations
- Erects and maintains barricades, signs, tape, or other devices to identify hazardous or restricted areas
- Maintains all equipment and supplies required in the provision of departmental services in optimal operational status with recommendation for procurement or replacement of equipment as needed
- Maintains positive interaction with residents, guests, and other Williamsburg Landing employees
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High School graduate or equivalent; current unrestricted Commonwealth of Virginia Driver’s License with insurable driving record, required; one (1) year of relevant work experience preferred; prior law enforcement or military experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and write clearly and legibly in English; ability to conduct investigative interviews; ability to compose accurate, descriptive narratives for standard reports; ability to speak clearly over telephone and hand-held radio; ability to work with CCTV, card access, fire alarms, and other detection systems; ability to maintain professionalism in difficult situations; ability to de-escalate tense verbal situations; ability to respond appropriately and calmly in an emergency;
