Provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors at Eastern State Hospital by handling difficult individuals, physically controlling, confining, and restraining them when necessary. Maintain adequate coverage so the Public Safety Department can fulfill its mission. Each officer is sworn by the Court of Williamsburg/James City County and is fully empowered to make arrests for any state or local violations.

Required to work during emergencies, pandemics, or other facility needs. All positions require shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as requested.

• Experience in preparing reports and investigation techniques
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
• Experience conducting foot and/or vehicle patrols
• Experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields dealing with the general public as a security service provider

• Special Conservator of the Peace Training and certification
• Experience utilizing various computer software
