Electrician​/Range Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a Electrician/Range Technician in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Electrician/Range Technician will provide technical support for the operations and maintenance of a military firing range. This individual will perform a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the distribution and utilization of electric energy in support of the range mission.

Typical duties include installing or repairing electrical equipment—generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment—working from blueprints, drawings, or specifications, diagnosing electrical system trouble, computing load requirements, and using a variety of hand tools and testing instruments.

The role requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training. The ideal candidate will have skills in the construction and maintenance industry and will work as part of a small team supporting trades such as carpentry, plumbing, pneumatic systems, painting, HVAC, and welding. Forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment may be used. Additional certifications are a plus.

• Knowledge of NEC code.
• Ability to read blueprints, manuals, and construction drawings.
• Performs all facets of electrical installations.
• Troubleshoots equipment to prevent malfunctions and identify improvement opportunities.
• Repairs, replaces, and maintains electrical wiring and circuits on range assets.
• Researches, learns, and provides creative technical recommendations for power and controls.
• Experience working with voltages up to 480 V.
• Maintains and repairs indoor/outdoor lighting systems and associated controls.
• Repairs and replaces motors, contacts, relays, motor starters, and motor sheaves related to HVAC equipment.
• Skilled in use of electrical meters and hand‑held powered tools.
• Performs preventive maintenance for electrical fixtures.
• Conducts general maintenance tasks necessary for repair at the property.
• Responds to maintenance calls, troubleshooting and repairing issues.
• Runs new power and cables, and performs project work for the assigned customer.
• Prepares estimates for man hours, materials, and orders items needed for job completion.
• Serves as a liaison between the Range Operations and Base Operations & Maintenance teams.
• Follows all policy, procedures, and service standards and complies with safety and health requirements.
• Works independently or in a team‑driven setting, prioritizing competing demands.
• Uses independent judgment for basic decision‑making.
• Can climb stairs and ladders, including extension ladders, repetitively during the shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• U.S. Citizen
• Electrical Journeyman License (any state)
• Must possess an active government clearance at the time of application

$32.15 per hour. The compensation range is an estimate and may vary based on responsibilities, experience, and other factors.
