Painter

Overview

Amentum is seeking a Painter located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The Painter will paint and redecorate walls, woodwork, and fixtures, ensuring all surfaces are properly prepared and finished.

• Paint and redecorate walls, woodwork, and fixtures.
• Mix colors, oils, white lead, and other paint ingredients to achieve proper color or consistency.
• Stand or kneel for extended periods of time.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders safely, operate ventilation equipment, and clean up tools and work areas daily.
• Apply paint, stains, varnish, and sealers using brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
• Calculate paint needs and blend materials for the correct color and texture.
• Perform structural repairs such as drywall repairs and remove old finishes, including stripping or sanding.
• Cover trim, floors, furniture, and other surfaces with masking tape, drop cloths, and other protective coverings to keep them free of paint.
• Set up ventilators and other safety equipment to protect painters from unhealthy fumes.
• Remove and reinstall fixtures (e.g., doorknobs, electric switch covers) as necessary.
• Follow safeguards, rules, and regulations.

• Training from a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
• Previous experience as a painter (residential or commercial) is preferred.
• Familiarity with different paints, coatings, and application tools.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and stand for long periods.
• Government‑issued clearance at time of application.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Real r's License.

Hourly rate: $28–$39. Actual compensation may vary based on additional factors such as job responsibilities, education, and experience.
