Electrician​/Range Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

Electrician/Range Technician for Amentum in Williamsburg, VA. Provides technical support for operations and maintenance of a military firing range.

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other transmission equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, layouts, and specifications to locate and diagnose electrical issues.
• Perform load calculations related to wiring and electrical equipment.
• Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and testing devices.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on electrical fixtures and systems.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and repair electrical components in a timely manner.
• Research, learn, and provide technical recommendations for power and controls to novel systems.
• Run new power cables and complete project work for assigned customers.
• Prepare estimates, man‑hours, materials, and orders per established procedures.
• Serve as liaison between Range Operations, Base Operations and Maintenance teams, and other stakeholders.
• Perform general maintenance tasks at the property and respond to maintenance calls.
• Climb stairs, ladders, and extension ladders as required.
• Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment as needed.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Electrical Journeyman license (any state) or equivalent apprenticeship or formal training.
• US citizenship and active government clearance at time of application.
• Knowledge of NEC code and ability to read blueprints, manuals, and construction drawings.
• Experience working with voltages up to 480V.
• Proficiency in using electric meters, hand‑held powered tools, and other electrician equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring and circuits on range assets.
• Basic decision‑making skills and independent judgment.
• Familiarity with various trades (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, welding) and willingness to support them.
• Ability to work independently or in a team‑driven setting and prioritize competing demands.
• Additional certifications (e.g., OSHA, forklift) are a plus.

Hourly rate: $32.15 (subject to variation based on job responsibilities, experience, and market conditions).
