Facilities Overview

The facilities team at the Jamestown‑Yorktown Foundation safeguards the Foundation’s physical assets and operational continuity. By proactively managing facility systems the role shifts maintenance from a reactive expense to a strategic advantage that protects the bottom line. The team ensures spaces are safe, functional and properly maintained for staff, guests, community and stakeholders.

Job Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems (elevators, generators) and general facility infrastructure (HVAC, plumbing). Follow safety procedures and wear proper PPE.
  • Diagnose electrical failures using schematics and testing equipment. Install systems, run wiring, and conduct multi‑trade repairs involving drywall, painting and fixtures.
  • Ensure all electrical work meets local, state and national codes and strictly adheres to OSHA standards.
  • Manage digital records via CMMS, tracking work orders, materials and SPCC spending logs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, generators, elevators, HVAC, plumbing and lighting control systems.
  • Skill in using electrical diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to install, repair and maintain various electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, control panels, elevators, backup generators and emergency systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose repair problems using schematics, blueprints and manuals.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and in all weather conditions.
  • Experience with or ability to learn BAS control systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work using CMMS.
Additional Considerations
  • Education, training and/or certification in skilled trades would be helpful.
  • Experience in a similar role or as an electrician or technician is preferred.
