Position: ELECTRICIAN / LICENSED JOURNEYMAN

Electrician – Cox-Powell Corporation

Cox-Powell Corporation, a leading commercial mechanical and electrical contractor, is hiring an Electrician. Candidates must have a current Virginia state license (Journeyman or Master) and at least 4 years of experience as a Journeyman/Master Electrician. Local candidates only with Commercial HVAC experience are preferred. Signing bonus of $3,000 is available for qualified applicants.

Responsibilities
  • Test electrical systems using voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to identify issues, confirm safety, and ensure compatibility.
  • Use testing devices, blueprints, and maps to determine steps needed to access electrical situations.
  • Repair electric issues by replacing or installing components, wiring, or devices.
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, diagnoses, and steps taken for each job.
  • Respond quickly to emergency calls, ensure safety upon arrival, and provide directions to affected individuals.
  • Maintain all equipment in good condition and report issues to the supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current Virginia state license for Journeyman or Master Electrician.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a Journeyman/Master Electrician.
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and state/local regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass background and substance‑abuse screening before employment; subject to random post‑accident screening.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
