Our client is seeking a Lead Intercom & Paging Systems Technician to support commercial and educational facility projects across the Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas.
This is a hands‑on, field-based role where you'll lead the installation, service, and troubleshooting of analog and IP‑based paging and intercom systems. You'll be responsible for project success in the field while providing guidance, training, and support to junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and complete intercom and paging system installations from start to finish
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and service analog and IP‑based paging systems
- Oversee job sites to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to company standards
- Read and interpret project documentation, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate with project managers, office staff, clients, and other trades
- Perform system testing, programming, commissioning, and documentation
- Troubleshoot hardware, cabling, networking, and system performance issues
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Travel locally to customer sites as needed
- 3–5 years of experience installing and troubleshooting commercial intercom and paging systems
- Experience with systems such as:
- Valcom (preferred)
- Bogen
- Dukane
- Other comparable analog and IP paging platforms
- Basic computer and networking knowledge
- Familiarity with structured cabling and commercial construction environments
- Experience reading technical documentation and project drawings
- Manufacturer or industry‑specific training preferred
- Experience with educational or commercial facility environments is a plus
- Own basic industry tools
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a background check and become DCJS licensed
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and active construction sites
- Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing project needs, and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service skills
