About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Audio-Video Installation Technician with experience installing and troubleshooting commercial AV systems. This role is ideal for someone who can lead projects in the field, mentor junior technicians, and ensure high-quality installations from start to finish.

Projects range from simple conference room setups to fully integrated commercial building systems. This position is primarily field-based, supporting projects throughout the Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and oversee commercial AV installation projects
• Train and mentor junior technicians onsite
• Coordinate with sales engineers, project teams, clients, and contractors
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot AV systems and infrastructure
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to client expectations
• Maintain professional communication and strong customer service throughout installations

Required Experience & Skills

• AV Installation & Technical Expertise
• 5+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting commercial audio/video systems
• 3+ years leading AV installations or supervising technicians
• Experience with:
  Flat panel displays
  Projectors
  Structured cabling systems
  25/70-Volt audio systems
  Video distribution systems
  IP encoders
  Control systems
  DSP systems
  Rack building and wire lacing
  Cabling rough-ins

Certifications & Industry Training

• Experience or training with the following is highly preferred:
  AVIXA / Info Comm CTS
  Biamp
  Crestron
  Extron
  Legrand AV

Additional Preferred Skills

• Structured cabling experience
• Security/surveillance system experience
• Construction industry familiarity
• Computer and networking knowledge

Qualifications

• Own basic industry tools
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and obtain DCJS licensing
• Comfortable working on ladders and using power tools safely
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt in fast-paced environments
• Strong willingness to learn and grow within the industry
