Position Overview

Employees must have a substantial background and strong working knowledge of electrical systems and controls. They must also have knowledge of electronic and mechanical systems and the ability to work in a small, high-performance team environment. The role also requires assisting with fabrication and welding of various items. Employees are required to follow instructions, work independently, lead others when needed, and perform tasks safely with a sense of urgency, self-motivation, and strong work ethic.

Employees must be able to travel and work at remote locations. Individuals should have a basic understanding of, and ability to use, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, a passport, security clearance, forklift operator's license, CAT III Crane Operator certification, and rigger certification.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field and depot level repairs on various types of cable handling machinery.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, PM maintenance, and fabrication activities, along with other related work assignments as designated by the Depot Machinery Repair Facilities Manager or Machinery Repair Facility Supervisors. Oversee the activities of junior technicians as required.
  • Perform administrative support activities, including computer-based training, database recordkeeping, report writing, and other IT-related tasks.
  • Perform equipment repairs aboard vessels in port and while underway, locally or abroad, depending on the vessel's location.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Possess a strong working knowledge of electrical systems and controls, as well as mechanical, electro-hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-based machinery systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant electrical work experience or completion of an electrical apprenticeship.
  • Military experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge and experience in welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication, and painting are a plus.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul miscellaneous machinery, including cable haulers, winches, transporters, hydraulic power units, trolley hoists, and other machinery.
  • Operate sandblasting and paint booth equipment.
  • Assist with the physical and mechanical loading and unloading of cable containers.
  • Maintain required supplies and repair parts.
  • Operate forklifts and CAT III cranes, and rig equipment for lifting as required.
  • Use Microsoft programs to maintain machinery history, quality assurance records, miscellaneous drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Approximately 20% travel
