Job Summary

Responsible for supporting division wide efforts to reduce barriers to learning and improve student engagement, attendance, behavior, and overall wellbeing. Provides targeted, data-informed interventions for students requiring additional academic, behavioral, or social-emotional support. Collaborates with school staff, families, and community agencies to develop and implement strategies that promote regular school attendance, positive school experiences, and long-term student success. Work requires strong case management, communication, and relationship‑building skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex student and family needs with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.

The position is responsible for providing leadership and support in the following areas:

• Review and analyze student data (attendance, academic indicators, discipline, engagement) to identify students in need of intervention.
• Maintain an active caseload of students requiring individualized or intensive support and monitor progress throughout the intervention process.
• Conduct home, school, and community visits to assess factors contributing to disengagement, absenteeism, or behavioral concerns.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, social workers, and community partners to develop individualized intervention plans.
• Facilitate or participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, attendance conferences, re‑engagement meetings, and student support team processes.
• Provide mentoring, goal‑setting, and skills‑based supports to promote positive student behaviors and academic engagement.
• Coordinate wraparound services including mental health supports, tutoring, transportation, or community‑based resources.
• Serve as liaison with community agencies and make timely referrals for students and families; ensure appropriate follow‑up and documentation.
• Assist families in understanding school expectations, attendance procedures, and available supports while promoting culturally responsive and trauma‑informed engagement.
• Support school‑based initiatives such as attendance campaigns, incentive programs, and family engagement events.
• Provide guidance to school staff on early warning indicators, family engagement strategies, and effective intervention practices.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of contacts, interventions, home visits, referrals, and outcomes; prepare related reports.
• Travel throughout the community and between school sites in the performance of duties.
• Participate in professional development aligned with attendance procedures, trauma‑informed practices, restorative strategies, and related areas.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must possess a bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, or a related field, or equivalent experience providing support services to school‑aged youth. Must possess a demonstrated understanding of factors impacting student engagement, including attendance challenges, social‑emotional needs, family dynamics, and resource accessibility. Must possess the ability to interpret and communicate school attendance policy and applicable state/local regulations. Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

Must possess the ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and establish effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community agencies. Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel between locations as required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Duties involve varied and complex responsibilities requiring flexibility, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with diverse students, families, staff, and community partners. Work may require morning, evening, or weekend meetings and travel to school, home, and community locations.

Some standing, walking, moving, traveling, carrying, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling are required.

Salary: $69,700.90 Per Year
