The City of Williamsburg is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Youth Development Advocate. This position is responsible for assisting the Youth Program Coordinator and the Human Services Department in meeting the needs of city youth and their families through community-based wraparound services. They work directly with youth enrolled in group programs and mentoring initiatives, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Key responsibilities include:
Facilitating structured programming, activities, and field trips that promote academic success and essential life skills;
Emphasizing values such as respect, responsibility, and positive role modeling throughout all interactions; and providing individualized mentoring, including goal-setting and connecting youth to appropriate services and resources. This position is contingent upon available funding and may vary annually based on program priorities and youth needs. services. Position is subject to available funding, program and youth needs in any given year.
Youth Development Advocates will facilitate our after-school program for middle school youth. Candidates must be available to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Other variable hours for mentoring may be available. Hourly rate will be $19. Need two positions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience/training in youth or family service programs
Special Qualifications:
- Acceptable criminal history, DMV background checks, CPS background checks, and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
