Job DutiesEastern State Hospital (ESH), located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of Cosmetologist / DSA III
The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge, skills, & abilities to provide hair care services for psychiatric patients, both adult and geriatric.
The Cosmetologist /DSA III reports directly to Therapist II for the provision of direct care to patients with mental disorders and/or intellectual disabilities in an assigned forensic unit, according to the philosophy and objectives of Eastern State Hospital Department of Nursing and the Hospital’s mission, goals and objectives.
This position supports the facility’s mission to provide support to individuals with challenging behavioral and mental health needs. This position will assist ESH professional staff in carrying out active treatment plans for patients with the most challenging mental health, behavioral issues and forensic populations.
These positions provide specialized service in working with individuals with challenging forensic, mental health, and behavior issues in specific units that house individuals such as jail transfers.
All ESH positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.
Minimum Qualifications- Current Virginia licensure as a Cosmetologist via Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (DPOR).
- Graduate of an accredited cosmetology school.
- Experience as a cosmetologist or barber in a salon.
